Extraordinary Women of the Bible – Mary Day 1

Today’s Scripture:

Luke 3:23-38 (Genealogy which includes Mary.  “Both Mary and Joseph descended from David.”  …Prior to David, they shared the same genealogy.  Mary’s branch through Nathan; Joseph’s through Solomon.  “In light of this, Christ inherited David’s throne through his stepfather. Jesus’ blood relationship to David, however, came through Mary…” excerpt from Twelve Extraordinary Women book)

Twelve Extraordinary Women by John MacArthur book:

Chapter 6:  Introduction and section entitled Mary’s Heritage

  1. Ah Mary, one of my favourite heroines of the Bible for certain!

My commentary reads: “Christ was both the son of Adam and the Son of God, that he might be a proper Mediator between God and the sons of Adam, and might bring the sons of Adam to be, through him, the sons of God. All flesh, as descended from the first Adam, is as grass, and withers as the flower of the field; but he who partakes of the Holy Spirit of life from the Second Adam, has that eternal happiness, which by the gospel is preached unto us.”

Wish it had more to say about Mary, but I am sure that will come!

    Happy Monday!

    • Yes, the most extraordinary of all! God chose her! What an honor, and after reading her prayer, she understood that too and didn’t take it lightly.
Later, she was there as He was crucified. Jesus loved His mother dearly, which is seen when he charges John to care of her.
Lots of rich learning ahead of us this week!
