Today’s Scripture…
Matthew 10:1-42
This is a large portion of Scripture, but Jesus was charging the disciples as He prepares to send them out. He is also speaking to future readers because the persecutions He describes seem to belong to the tribulation period (21-23).

I wanted for us to read this entire charge from Jesus and not split it up. However, there is so much to glean in these verses. Here are a few things I noticed.
Verse 10 – “..A worker is worthy of his food.”
This makes me think about how Jesus puts value on your work. You should too. Don’t sell yourself short.
Verse 16 – “..Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”
This is a good statement to remember as we maneuver through life in this fallen world dealing with all sorts of people.
Verse 19 – “..Do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak..”
He will give the opportunity and the words to say.
Verse 30 – “..The very hairs of your head are numbered..you are of more value than many sparrows.”
Reminds us how special we are to Jesus
Verse 38 – “..Take up his cross and follow after Me..”
Jesus already knew about the cross and pointed to it here.
