  1. The homeschool teacher in me noticed a major run-on sentence right away as Paul introduces himself (verses 1-7). But I love that his introduction of himself pointed right back to Christ. Verse 9 says that Paul prays for the Romans without ceasing. Yesterday our pastor posed the question, “Do you pray for lost people you know by name?” It seems clear Paul wants to go to Rome, but God has other plans right now. Isn’t that hard sometimes-when we are dead set on doing something, but God says, “no.” Waiting is hard. But, Paul wouldn’t have written a letter to the Romans if he were there with them…and we are reading that letter right now as part of the New Testament!

  2. Paul was separated in the womb; called on the Damacus road, but detoured in between those two events (and what a detour!). But, read Acts 26:16. He was called to witness what he had seen/would see. God orchestrated it all-even the detour. Romans 8:28
