High School Transcripts online software

Yesterday, I posted about an online attendance tool that I use from HomeschoolCompliance.com.  I just found another awesome resource for high school transcripts from the same developer!  The site is called FastTranscripts.com. I just signed up and started my son’s 9th grade transcript in less than 5 minutes.

I don’t know about for you, but the thought of transcripts scare me just a little bit.  I want to get it right.  I want my children to be prepared when the time comes to apply for colleges.

Fast Transcripts gives homeschool parents the ability to create professional high school transcripts with error-free GPS calculation.  Cost is only $16 ($12 for HSLDA members).

You can try this resource FREE for 30 days! (no credit card required)

This transcript resource is provided through the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA).

Scott Meadows is the developer of this software.  He and his wife are homeschooling their 5 children, one of whom has just been accepted into college.  As I mentioned, he is also the developer of the HomeschoolCompliance.com software I blogged about here and have used for many years.  So, I am expecting good things from this transcript service – user friendly, accurate, solid.  I feel sure it will deliver!

Scott shared with me that he developed the software for both HomeschoolCompliance.com & FastTranscripts.com with the busy homeschool parent in mind and purposely worked to keep costs very low.

I will do a complete review to let you know my full evaluation of this resource once I’ve used it for a bit.

2016 Journal

Okay, I think we are on to something!  This new journal is resonating!  I watched it quickly climb to the #1 spot on Currclick.  I’ve since also added it to TpT.

Ladies, we NEEDED this!  We are READY for this!

I can’t tell you how excited I am at how the Lord will use this journal in my life and in yours!

(Don’t forget to tie a special vintage looking ribbon to the top coil to serve as your bookmark!)

2016 is going to be a HOPE-filled year and we will…

Love Deeply.

Live Fully.

Seek Wholly.

If you still haven’t gotten yours, you can do so here or here.

If you are a missionary, it’s yours FREE.  Just contact me.

If you aren’t able to afford this, it’s yours FREE.  Just contact me.

If you can gift one, do so!  Don’t forget to include a special pen – that’s half the fun!

I am printing and binding one for each of the ladies in my Bible Study group.  I can’t wait to give it to them!

It cost me $4.49 at Staples and I opted for the clear binding cover for the front which was $.29.

With much love,

Free Budget App from Dave Ramsey

every dollar app

I don’t know if you saw my recent article on Money Saving Mom about how I budget using a modified envelope system (no CASH involved!), but if you missed it, you can check it out here.  This has worked well for me for several years.

I’m a little old fashioned and like the paper and pen method, but maybe it’s time to move from saving paper receipts to an app.

When I started searching for a good one, I found one from Dave Ramsey.  It’s called Every Dollar and it’s FREE.

I just downloaded it and have already set up my January budget via the app.  The difference for me will be that instead of saving my receipt to put into an envelope labeled with that category (food, gas, etc.), I will simply enter the transaction on the app.  This app will instantly calculate what I have remaining in my budget.  The line items were already set up (food, phones, mortgage, etc.)  The only thing I had to do was put in the amount I “planned” to spend.  Then, I will enter my transactions under the appropriate category once I pay for something.

I think this will work for me because I can see myself getting in the car and immediately opening this app on my phone and typing in the transaction.  Maybe this is something that will benefit you as well.

I’m all about organizing, especially this time of year, and I love it when I find something that is user friendly and specific to my needs.  This one has promise!

(I may update this post after a few months to let you know how it goes!)

I am a huge fan of HomeschoolCompliance.com.  I’ve blogged about it before here and here.   You can get this awesome attendance tool for just $12 per year.  This site allows you to e-file attendance with a 12 year backup.  You can also e-file your Declaration of Intent each year through this site.  I am not affiliated or compensated in any way by sharing this with you.  This is just a site I love and want to be sure my readers know about it.

If you have a busy, messy, real life like I do, this just may be one less thing.;)

(Note, I just updated this post because the link above was incorrect before.  Oops!  I passed along the personal discount link that was emailed to me as a current customer. You won’t be able to subscribe for yourself via that link.  Sorry!)

2016 Journal for Prayer and Bible Reading

journal cover

Journal for Prayer and Bible Reading

I am so giddy about this new journal! I am tickled because I am personally excited about using it as I begin 2016.

I don’t know if you watched the TBN special Hope for the Holidays the other night, but Beth Moore was on it and I was inspired. When she was chatting with the other ladies on set about her journal, she said she took one she’d been given and modified it to make it her own. She said it’s relatively blank at the onset of the new year. She lifts it up to the Lord and prays that the Lord fill it and her year however He wills. Then, at year end, she closes it and thanks God for his work within those pages and her life. I just loved that.

I thought about my own journal. I have used school-grade spiral composition books for years. This time, I wanted my journal to feel special. I also wanted it to be organized with my prayer list and journaling notes all in one place. I wanted it to include my mantra for this year: Love Deeply. Live Fully. Seek Wholly. I wanted it to include Scripture that would remind me of who I am in Christ – just in case I need them at a moment’s notice while life gets complicated. I wanted it to include the prayer strategy sheets I use daily for my children, marriage, etc.

This journal does not include devotionals. It does not include a suggested Scripture reading plan. I debated about including those things, but ultimately decided that I didn’t want this journal to hinder your being able to meet directly with the Lord yourself. I never know where the Lord may lead me in my Bible reading time. If a passage doesn’t instantly come to mind, I usually read the Lifeway’s Journey devotional magazine entry for that day. On the side of the page, there is a suggested scripture reference for further reading. I will generally start there.

God is doing an active work in your life and circumstances. He wants to be very specific with you. His Word is active and sharp. (Hebrews 4:12) That’s where intimacy in the relationship comes. I wouldn’t dare want to take that privilege from Him. However, if He leads me to share with you the Scripture He’s laid on my heart for a particular morning and use me in that way to get the reference to You, I will be happy to oblige. You can follow me on this blog and Twitter to get those updates.

I pray that God uses this journal to make you feel like the special, beloved person you are to Him. I pray He uses it to help you keep record of your intimate times with Him. I pray you can flip back and be encouraged at His provision. I pray you can flip back and use it to share your testimony of the greatness of the Lord – even, and especially, in the midst of your day to day life that is very real and very hard sometimes (Psalm 78:4). I pray you love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind – with everything you’ve got!

Much love,

Print out the front and back of your journal onto cardstock paper for extra durability. NOTE: Print pages 2-7, single-sided. Print 8-13, double-sided (one set for each week of the year). Print pages 14, single-sided. Print pages 15—20 double-sided. Print pages 21-23, single-sided.

Spiral bind.
I prefer the coil type that folds back easily. An office supply store can get this done for you.

Create a ribbon bookmark.
Tie a long piece of shabby chic ribbon to the top rung of the spiral binding comb. Use as a bookmark to mark the day you are currently working on.

Journal Tabs

Directions: Print this page onto cardstock. Cut out the tabs and affix with glue to the back side of the first page of these sections in your journal. The tabs will help since you will flip here daily.

Purchase a Pen
I highly recommend that you purchase a special pen for use with this journal. Treat yourself, if your budget allows, to this simple indulgence. You are so special and doing this for yourself will remind you of that each time you put pen to page while working daily in this journal.

SPECIAL NOTE – This journal contains no dates in it. If you purchase it for 2016, you can still use this same journal every year hereafter!

A Virtual Fieldtrip for your Star Wars enthusiast

Mom Devo. – Some Why Questions Answered:)

Crib, Child, Nativity Scene, Santon, Christmas

I hope you are enjoying all of the glorious sights and sounds of the season! I don’t know about you, but when I focus on Christ and His birth as we approach the celebration of His birthday, I begin to wonder…

I’ve been asking the Lord some “Why” questions lately. For example,

• “Why didn’t you just evacuate the Canaanites before the Israelites got there? You could have, God. You’d already given them the Promised Land. Why did you have them fight the giants in the land?
• “Why didn’t you just cause the 5 kings that came against Joshua and the Israelite army to just go on back home or maybe send a disease to wipe them out”. You could have. You’d already given the 5 armies into Joshua’s hand. (Joshua 10: 8) Why did you have them go into battle?”

Now, I know God is Sovereign, but I also know that there is purpose in His methods and I just wanted to understand a little better.

• And then, as I was preparing for our upcoming Sunday School lesson today, I thought, “Why did Jesus have to come in such a lowly way and suffer so much?”

And then, the answer came. God led me to Psalm 111:4, “You have caused your wonderful works to be remembered.”

If the Israelites had breezed right into the Promised Land with no giants to face, would this have been memorable? I mean, their testimony might have sounded something like, “We got there, we walked in, we set up our tents, done.”

What if there had been no 5 armies breathing down Joshua’s neck. They wouldn’t be able to share about the large hailstones God threw down (Joshua 10:11) or the day the sun stood still so they could keep fighting (Joshua 10:12). Now, that’s a story to pass down through the generations.

And what about Jesus? Born of a virgin in a stable; laid in a manger; the night sky announcing His birth to wise men after all this was prophesied hundreds of years before? Now, that’s a wonderful work to be remembered!

So, what about you and me? Just maybe what you’re going through and I’m going through seem really hard. But, just maybe God’s deliverance will be another example of His wonderful work and they’ll be talking about it for a long time.  Maybe He will do such miraculous work in your life that even your great-great grandchildren will still be hearing about a it.

I LOVE studying the Bible and spending time with the Lord. I also LOVE seeing my children studying the Bible. I have created a few resources for this.

NEW! A to Z Bible Curriculum – a complete curriculum where each letter relates to a Bible Story. This curriculum includes and Attention Grabber, Bible Learning, Games, Craft AND simple letter activities. I wrote this curriculum to be used by our church when we go on regular mission trips to Guatemala. We teach Bible stories and basic letter skills there. We are also using it with a Backyard Bible Club we attend every Sunday evening in an underprivileged area. But, this curriculum would work GREAT for young learners – theme based; where the theme is a Bible Story. It also would work for older learners by eliminating the Letter Skills section.

Bible Studies for Preteens

Don’t forget to be sure you are “following” me on Twitter (look on the right side of my blog’s homepage).  I’m about to start some new things with my Twitter account, which I’ve kind of left alone for a while.  I’m super excited about it and don’t want you to miss out!

Historic. Congress defunds Planned Parenthood!

Feet, Ten, Barefoot, Newborn, Baby, Sweet, Small

Thursday night, the U.S. Senate passed a bill that would stop most federal tax dollars that go to Planned Parenthood.

H.R. 3762, the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015, would redirect hundreds of millions of dollars currently going to Planned Parenthood to other health care centers. The legislation now goes back to the House, where it is expected to pass.

But then, it will go to President Obama for his signature. It’s time for all of us to ask him to do the right thing. He needs to hear from America. He needs to hear from you.

Citizen Link, a division of Focus on the Family, has made it easy to send the White House a brief note through their Action Center.  Click this link below to be take there.

Also, Lila Rose, from Live Action, has started a petition to urge the defunding of Planned Parenthood.  Add your name here:
