If you have a daughter, chances are you know what Beanie Boo’s are and probably have more than a few around your house.  McDonald’s has been offering Beanie Boo toys in their Happy Meals right now and we’ve been on the lookout for the elusive purple turtle – the last one my daughter needs to complete her collection!

Since summer days drag on, my daughter has needed something creative to do with her time.  She has been collecting boxes and creating a Beanie Boo house.  It’s been a fun project for her.

She wanted to make bunk beds for one of her rooms, so we searched to web for ideas.

We found a cute bed idea on My Froggie Stuff.  This one is for a 12 inch doll and she used cereal boxes.

My daughter wanted to make bunk beds and we used Hamburger Helper boxes which were the right size for her Beanie Boo’s.

Here’s how we made ours…

We bought colorful duct tape ($2 at Dollar General).  You will also need two boxes (we used Hamburger Helper), 4 pencils, pillow batting, and a small piece of fabric.

Cut a piece of fabric a little larger than one side of the box.  Use the colorful duct tape to secure three sides.

Push some batting up into the top of the open side of the box to make a mattress.  Secure that side with duct tape.

Wrap duct tape around the 4 pencils.

Repeat with the other box.  Tape the pencils on the sides to create a bunk bed.

September 11 PowerPoint book

Sept 11 Powerpoint book cover

This PowerPoint product is a book. You can pull it up for your children or class to watch and actually turn the pages to read it just as you would a book.

This book has been written very carefully. I refrained from including scary details, but instead focused on the main facts of the day. I wanted to highlight the bravery and heroism of Americans during that event.

This book was written for elementary-aged children. You could read it to older kids as well and use it as a spring board to research more specific events of the day.

Hope this book helps you explain this event in American history with your children and students.

Pleasant words are like a honecomb. (vs. 24) – we drew a tree with honeycomb

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty. (vs. 32)

A Soft answers turns away wrath

We drew lots of hearts

A perverse tongue breaks the spirit.

Wholesome lips = tree of life (we drew tree and lips)

Seek good advice.

The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer.

Think before you speak.

A word spoken in due season, how good it is!

God hears the prayer of the righteous.

He who spares his rod, hates his son. (you can see that one of my children drew a little rear end with a paddle;)

Pride = strife

Be diligent.

Be righteous.

Evil pursues sinners.

The righteous shall be repaid with good.

Truthful lips – established forever (we drew lips)

Lying tongue is but for a moment (we drew a tongue and drew an arrow to it and wrote abomination to the Lord)
