Armor of God Resources

armor of God poster

I woke up this morning with the Armor of God on my mind.  I was reminded of how vital it is for my children know it well before they grow up.  We’ve talked about it a lot, but I’m planning to do an in-dept lesson with them.  I found a few resources that I wanted to share with you.

Free Poster (a simple poster I created..the picture I used didn’t have a shield, so maybe your kids could draw one in)

Armor of God poster for 30 cents (from Answers in Genesis)

Armor of God Dig Kit for $1.20 (from Answers in Genesis)

http://www.answersingenesis.org/store/product/armor-god-dig-kit/?sku=26-1-339

(The Answers in Genesis resources will require a $5 shipping fee.)

I L-O-V-E the Lesson on Answers in Genesis’ Kids Page.  There’s an explanation for EACH of the pieces of armor.

All or any of these would make great resources as you sit your children down to teach a lesson about the Armor of God.

I think I will have them do the Dig Kit first.

Then, I will pull out the poster and my Bible and go over the parts of the armor using the Answers in Genesis Kid’s Page lesson.

Finally, I will let them color the picture, if they want to.

I think it’s VITAL that our children have knowledge of the battle raging all around them.  I think most people don’t even realize!  Hope these resources help!:)

Dyslexic Resources FREE Comprehension Story

turkey coverDyslexic students struggle with reading. In my experience, the IEP usually involves modifying by verbally reading the material to the child. This can be time consuming for the teacher and embarrassing for the student.

This resource includes a specialized font. The letters have weighted bottoms, which helps differentiate direction. This helps keep your brain from rotating them around. Consistently weighted bottoms can help reinforce the line of text. The unique shapes of each letter can help prevent confusion through flipping and swapping. There is also wider spacing between the letters. It is recommended that the punctuation marks be bold to help the student recognize the stops.

I wanted to let you know that I have created a simple comprehension activity entitled Turkey Tree House. It’s an original story with ten comprehension questions. Teachers can download it for FREE and try it out.

I’ve also included Reading Rulers in this resource. I have found that it really helps to have a colored guide that the student can move under each line as she reads. That way, she can only see just one line of text at the time and not be overwhelmed. I’ve also tried letting the student put the ruler above the line she is working on. That seems to be equally effective and in some cases seems to work better!

Be sure to let me know if this helps the dyslexic students you are working with. I’ll try to get some more sheets uploaded soon, so follow my shop or this blog so you will be alerted when those are ready.

December Spelling Test Sheets, Journal Prompts and FREEBIE

December is almost here and we have products that might help make the month of December much more meaningful.

December Spelling Test Sheets

dec cover

These sheets are sooo much fun!  They are ready-made spelling test sheets that you print out and have your child use for his/her weekly spelling test.  They look GREAT on the refrigerator!

Your child can color the picture while waiting for the next word to be called.  This is especially helpful if you test multiple children at once like I do.  I call out tests for all my children at once.  I just call the child’s name and her word, the next child’s name and his word, etc.  Sounds confusing, but it works for us 🙂

You could just have your child color the picture at the end, if you test individually.  The sheet makes a great display when highlighting your child’s work on the refrigerator!

Includes:

Spelling Test with 10 blank lines and 2 bonus

Spelling Test with 10 handwriting lines and 2 bonus

Fix My Eyes on You..FREE poster

fix my eyes poster

There are sooo many things that compete for our attention these days.  2 Corinthians 4:18, reminds us to “fix our eyes” on the things of the Lord.  The word “fix” here means to look at.  It’s sometimes hard to set our gaze on the things that are eternal when there are so many things to “look at.”  But we need to enter our day with a determination to FIX our eyes on Him above all else that vies for our attention.

I also love Psalm 141:8, which states, “But my eyes are fixed on You, Sovereign Lord; in You I take refuge – do not give me over to death.

I have created a free poster for you today.  Download it my clicking the link above.

Blessings!
