Preschool Sunday School – Elijah and King Ahab

Our church uses Lifeway’s Gospel Project curriculum in our Preschool and Children’s Department.  It is awesome!  I’d love to answer any questions you may have if you are considering it.

The lesson this week was about Elijah and King Ahab (the altar contest) in which God showed His power in a mighty way.

I usually modify it somewhat for our very little ones – toddlers and two’s.  I create a one page lesson plan for those rooms.   You can download that here.

Preschool Toddlers through 2’s – Elijah Confronted King Ahab

Here is the altar sheet in case you want to use it for the art project.  I got it from this site, but modified it somewhat so our toddlers wouldn’t have to do any cutting.  They will just glue on pieces of red, orange, yellow tissue paper squares.  I will probably just go ahead and put the glue on it for them with a glue stick and then let them just lay the tissue squares on top.  Our older preschoolers can glue for themselves.  Also, I will let our older preschoolers use blue water color paint to paint water in the jars.

Scripture Journals for kids

My Scripture Journal cover

I created this resource for my fourth grade daughter.  I wanted her to have a Bible Time each day.  She had been reading a devotional book each morning, but I wanted her to understand that nothing should take the place of actually reading God’s Word for yourself. God Word is alive and He often uses it to speak to us personally.

There are two journals included…one for girls with very colorful flower graphics and one for boys with various ball images.

Psalm 119:9, “How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.” (NASB)  I want my children to know the Word and be very familiar with their Bibles.

These Scripture Journals have 100 carefully selected scriptures for your child to look up in his/her own Bible using the version you select.  Have your children look up one verse every day for 100 days. Not only will they become familiar with their Bibles but copying the verses will help with retention. You could also use this as a meaningful daily handwriting exercise.

Directions:  Print out a journal for your son/daughter. Have an office supply store spiral bind for you or simply put into a notebook.  Your child should look the verse up in his/her own Bible each day and copy the verse into the journal.

You can click here to order through Teacher’s Notebook or here to order through Currclick.  🙂

Deeper Roots Family Devotions

I am excited about a brand new product I just released.  It has taken me about a year to complete.   It is Deeper Roots Family Devotions.  The motivation behind this project came from just looking at my kids and realizing that while they are at home, there are some very vital truths that I want instilled into them before they leave the nest.

These aren’t your ordinary Family Devo’s.  Don’t get me wrong, stories like Daniel in the Lion’s Den are awesome and my kids know them well.  But, knowing that their identity is securely in Jesus alone, recognizing and dumping the baggage satan tries to lump on them, and helping them to understand what a Biblical Worldview is were just far more important concepts to instill into them in the age in which we live.

I would love for you to take a look.  I just reduced this product to just 50 cents.  Call me crazy, but I just want everybody to have a copy!  I’d be grateful if you helped me spread the word.

Kathy 🙂
