Mentoring Moments Facebook Party Give Away & Book Reveal

Okay, so I hope you have been enjoying Mentoring Moments’ Facebook Party!  It’s been a blast!

As promised, I will be giving away the Reasons for the Season eBook that includes Family Devotions and activities for EVERY night in December leading up to Christmas!  It was a blessing to our family last year and I pray it will bless yours this year as well!!  All you have to do is follow this blog or email me tonight by 10:00, and I will get the free eBook to you ASAP!

And now for the big reveal…I have just finished a new book that will be part of a series for children!  The series is called Bible Adventures.  After all, the best adventures can be found in the Bible!!  The book I have just finished is entitled, A Man with Two Names..the story of Paul.  Take a sneak peak at the cover below.  The book will be for sale through Currclick and Amazon in print form only.  Please follow this blog so that you will know when it becomes available to purchase…which should be within the week.

Let me tell you a little bit about how this book came about.  The idea came to me during a three day fast.  God gave me the idea and has constantly prompted me to finish it ever since.  Kids today really need to read Scripture, however picking up a big Bible can sometimes seem overwhelming.  But, the power is in the Word, not a paraphrased version of it.  So…after getting permission from the NASB to use as many verses as I needed, I was on my way.  This book is a chapter book, full of parts of the book of Acts that follows Paul’s life from conversion (and it even backs up a little and includes Stephen) though his missionary journeys and trip to Rome.

The main character (besides Paul, of course), is a tween named Jayar.  He puts his comments throughout and has added Word Checks to make the hard words understandable.  I consulted so many sources to make sure this book was accurate!  You should see the End Notes where I cited the sources!  Whew!!  I chose the NASB because I believe it to be accurate and easily readable, but I consulted many versions in putting together this book.

I have prayed over this book and for the readers and I am so excited because I feel like it’s what the Lord wanted me to do!  That IS a good feeling. My one desire is to glorify Him!!

Oh, and one more surprise…anyone who follows this blog tonight (7/31/12), will receive a coupon off the price of this 80 page chapter book, which will sell for $5.99.

The Chronicles of Narnia read-aloud

We just finished reading the Chronicles of Narnia – all seven of them – as a read-aloud each evening.  We started with Book 1 and it took us a looong time, but we just finished them all!

I highly recommend reading this set of books out loud to your children.  The last one is so touching.  Without being a spoiler, let me just say that the very end paints a picture of what Heaven may be like.  It makes kids think of it as not scary, but instead beautiful beyond imagination!

Even if you can’t read each night, just read when you can.  Sunday afternoon is the perfect time to read together.  We sometimes go outside and put a quilt on the trampoline and read, that is when it’s not as hot as it is out there right now!

Have fun reading together!

Reading is for Everyone eBook free

I have been so excited to use my Reading is for Everyone eBook this summer with some students that I have been tutoring.  I wrote the book for my daughter, who just wasn’t “getting” reading using the traditional methods of teaching it.  The students I have been teaching are from Korean and are learning to read English.

I created pictures from the letters that make up the special phonics rules.  Here’s an example:Please help me spread the word by passing along the link below and I will send you a free copy!  Just email me to let me know.

Posters for Teachers and a favor

I would like to ask you a favor!  Would you please forward my teacherspayteachers store link (below) to any teachers that you know.  I have just added Common Core Standards posters for ALL of the elementary grades, K through 5th. Each set includes portrait (vertical) and landscape (horizontal) versions, so teachers can pick which they like best.

I homeschool, so selling my curricula online is my way to help my family financially.  If you know of any teachers, would you please forward this link to them.

Every state in the U.S. (except for about five) adopted the Common Core Standards and teachers will be required to post these in their classrooms.  I have posters for every CCS with trendy polka dot borders.  Teachers can clip the poster they are working on up on a designer clip board tied with a matching polka dot ribbon and easily change out the standard posters.

Thank you sooo much!!

Common Core Standards Poster Pack Free!

I just finished adding Common Core Standard poster packs for all of the elementary grade levels to my Teacherspayteachers store!!  Yea!!

Almost every state in the U.S. has adopted the CCS and most teachers will be required to post these in their rooms.  I have created posters for each standard with a trendy polka dot border.

If you would be willing to share the link below either via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, your blog, or just send an email to your fellow teachers, I will send you a pack for your grade level FREE just for helping me spread the word!  Just contact me to let me know what you did and which grade level you need.

If you don’t need the posters, but will still pass the info. along to any teachers you know, I will gladly send you any other product that I sell for FREE, just visit the link and look around and let me know which one you want.

Thank you sooo much!!
